Zero Viscosity Limit for Analytic Solutions of the

چکیده

This is the second of two papers on the zero-viscosity limit for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a half-space in either 2D or 3D. Under the assumption of analytic initial data, we construct solutions of Navier-Stokes for a short time which is independent of the viscosity. The Navier-Stokes solution is constructed through a composite asymptotic expansion involving the solutions of the Euler and Prandtl equations, which were constructed in the rst paper, plus an error term. This shows that the Navier-Stokes solution goes to an Euler solution outside a boundary layer and to a solution of the Prandtl equations within the boundary layer. The error term is written as a sum of rst order Euler and Prandtl corrections plus a further error term. The equation for the error term is weakly nonlinear; its linear part is the time dependent Stokes equation. This error equation is solved by inversion of the Stokes equation, through expressing the solution as a regular (Euler-like) part plus a boundary layer (Prandtl-like) part. The main technical tool in this analysis is the Abstract Cauchy-Kowalewski Theorem.

Singular limit of a two-phase flow problem in porous medium as the air viscosity tends to zero

In this paper we consider a two-phase flow problem in porous media and study its singular limit as the viscosity of the air tends to zero; more precisely, we prove the convergence of subsequences to solutions of a generalized Richards model.

Zero Viscosity Limit for Analytic

This is the rst of two papers on the zero-viscosity limit for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a half-space. In this paper we prove short time existence theorems for the Euler and Prandtl equations with analytic initial data in either two or three spatial dimensions. The main technical tool in this analysis is the abstract Cauchy-Kowalewski theorem. For the Euler equations, the pro...

Viscosity Limit of Stationary Distributions for the Random Forced Burgers Equation

We prove convergence of stationary distributions for the randomly forced Burgers and Hamilton-Jacobi equations in a limit when viscosity tends to zero. It turns out that for all values of the viscosity ν there exists a unique (up to an additive constant) solution to the randomly forced Hamilton-Jacobi equation which is extendible for all times. The main result follow from the convergence of the...

Zero dispersion and viscosity limits of invariant manifolds for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations

Zero dispersion and viscosity limits of invariant manifolds for focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS) are studied. We start with spatially uniform and temporally periodic solutions (the so-called Stokes waves). We find that the spectra of the linear NLS at the Stokes waves often have surprising limits as dispersion or viscosity tends to zero. When dispersion (or viscosity) is set to ze...

Zero-Viscosity Limit of the Linearized Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations with Highly Oscillatory Forces in the Half-Plane

We study the asymptotic expansion of solutions to the linearized compressible Navier-Stokes equations with highly oscillatory forces in the half-plane with nonslip boundary conditions for small viscosity. The wave length of oscillations is assumed to be proportional to the square root of the viscosity. By means of asymptotic analysis, we deduce that the zero-viscosity limit of solutions satisfi...
